The Spot was a rigorous, half semester long, collaborative project with the objective to reconstruct how students and staff can better utilize the space outside of UW-Stout's Applied Arts building.

Research, calculation, and accuracy were a huge portion of this project and every detail must be considered.

With the endless amount of possibilities, we set a hard focus on the environmental aspects of our location, along with the durability, and realistic usability of our future design. Additionally, we aimed to stay true to the SOAD program (School of Art & Design) and it's unique culture.
Considering that UW-Stout is located in the northwoods of Wisconsin, majority of time that students are on campus, they are experiencing cold to freezing temperatures and snow storms. We had to develop a design to accommodate the elements.
WARM, COMFORTABLE, SOCIAL, EXPRESSIVE
During the branding and logo ideation process, three aspects of our exhibition were determined at The Spot; the café, the gallery, and the fire pit.
Next in the process was figuring out the technicalities and if,  given the budget, the space could actually accommodate our ideas. This involved measuring the outside of Applied Arts and translating it into digitally-built displays. We used this method to develop elevation views, plan views, signage displays and rendered mockups.
